Hi Rick

In general, I believe that stores will only accept cards that carry the VISA or MasterCard logo. I've never tried requesting cash back and suspect that it not a service you will find in Tobago.

Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve - That was a fast reply! My debit cash card is a Visa one - do you think it would matter ? [ most likely not] Thank you - Rick

To be brutally honest, I don't think the stores know the difference between debit and credit cards. The only important thing to them is whether the card is affiliated with either Visa or MasterCard - so, if it carries the Visa logo, then you will have no problem. Always carry ID though. We've just got back from 3 wonderful weeks in Tobago and I was never asked for ID, but on previous trips (pre-pandemic), Pennysavers and some other places would always want to check your ID before accepting your card in payment.

Thanks Steve - Not too surprising - guess I'll give it a shot I't would be convenient to get smaller amounts at stores than going to atm's. All the best - Rick
