Food for hikes in Tobago?

Hi all,
I’m off to Tobago soon and been wondering how people manage their food on hikes or when you’re a fair way from any restaurants. Don’t want to lug too much, but also don’t fancy starving halfway through a walk, ya know?
Do you usually pack stuff with you, like freeze dried food, or just grab whatever’s around? Any tips for things that keep well and are easy to sort out without a proper kitchen? I’m all ears for anything, even little hacks or quirky tricks that actually work.
Cheers!

Hi Dean,

I think you could just make some sandwiches as we sometimes do when spending a day driving around the island. Bread, some greens, salami, cooked eggs and cheese. Or just swap the salami with tuna. They easily keep for the whole of the day without spoiling.

you will find a selection of items that could be carried easily in the larger stores/supermarkets depending on where you can shop - "trail" type bars, nuts, dried fruit etc. generally though, best to prep a few snacks before setting out I'd think.
