We have booked to stay at Coco Reef in October, we picked this hotel because it appeared to be a similar standard to that of Blue Waters in Antigua. We were married there last year and it was really fabulous. Just wondered if anyone else had stayed at both hotels and could give us a comparison.

We stayed at Blue Waters in July last year and have just returned from a two week honeymoon at Coco Reef.
Coco Reef is almost but not quite up to the standards of Blue Waters with the exception of the food which was equally as good although on Saturday nights only a buffet dinner is served as one restaurant is closed.
The location of the hotel is better than Blue Waters with Pigeon Point an easy walk and shops, restaurants close at hand.
The staff at Coco Reef are very friendly but when they tell you Bobsters bar only closes when the last guest leaves don't believe them. Around 1:30 am the bar tender will tell you he's closing and going home.
On the whole if you enjoyed Blue Waters you will also enjoy Coco Reef.

Coco Reef V Blue Waters (Blue Waters won by a KO )
Coco Reef
Impressive driveway thru impressive grounds up to an equally impressive open planned reception area make it look 5 star , don't be fooled . The reception staff appeared a touch dozy but so far so good , the rooms were excellent and we were allocated the room we requested . However as the week went on it was apparent that the staff were in the main surly and unfriendly , there was only one beach bar in the whole resort and virtually no drinks service to beach or pool areas . The staff in Tamarra's resaurant were incredible , having watched the 'Manchurian Candidate' on the flight out there is no doubt in my mind that the CIA has planted microchips in the staff as some sort of experiment , every evening they made the same speech to guest after guest on table after table , no personality was allowed to get in the way ,this was American management gone overboard , in the end it got funny .Somebody posted earlier that the place lacks 'soul' and I tend to agree , the beach is artificial and so are the staff .Food is good although a bit samey and the artificial lagoon is good for swiming and snorking , loads of fish . The swimming pool is tiny and aasa result everyone sits on the beach which therefore resembles Benidorm at high season , if you want shade prepare to put your towels down at 6am . I don't think I have seen anything as pretentious as those statues (I thought one was Paddington bear for 3 days from where I was sitting) and as for the white Rollers outside enough said . My advice to the owner , dump the statues and the Rollers , create a bigger pool and let the staff be themselves and not machines .

Blue Waters
Just returned after 1 week followed by 1 week at coco reef in tobago (Blue waters is far superior) , Blue Waters is made up off 9 two storey 'motel' blocks (100 thru 900) , as you look from the sea ; block 100 thru 300 are to the right of the open fronted reception / bar and Palm restaurant areas and the other blocks are to the left . I would say that block 100 is the premium block due to its position , downstairs rooms at block 400/ 500 have loads of foot traffic in front of their balcony's so lack privacy , blocks 800 and 900 are behind blocks 600 and 700 so the downstairs rooms would not have a sea view , blocks 600 and 700 although a walk from the main hotel have great sea views . The rooms are not as plush as the brochure / web site indicates but are very comfortable , the food in both Palm and Vyvians are top class but it is the staff that make the difference , they are experienced , proffesional and very very friendly , nice people . In my view the hotel suits best couples /familys of all ages looking for a quiet classy break , it would not suit teenagers . Entertainment in the evening is limited to background small bands and if you like long walks on beaches then forget it , here the beach is tiny with sun beds limited to around 30 in total but the pool areas are very good with two of the pools (one new) having a beach bar so easy to get drinks . The hotel is in the middle of nowhere so also forget about going for a walk outside , it is a 15 min taxi ride from the capital St Johns (little more then a shanty town) , You can also get daily english newspapers delivered to your room each morning via the internet .wonderful .
Very very enjoyable hotel with great staff , recommended
