Will I see the Southern Cross for the first time on Tobago?
Also, are there any sweet spots on the island for looking at the stars?

You've got me there! As much as I love gazing at the stars when I'm in Tobago, I confess that I don't know the names of any of them. Tobago is still in the northern hemisphere (11°N), so I don't know if the Southern Cross is visible, but no doubt somebody will know and be able to answer.

As regard "sweet spots", try pretty much the whole of Tobago. There is so little light pollution, much less any form of industrial smog, that the skies are always brilliant. Yes, it's best up-country in places like Charlotteville, but I remember walking back to our room after dinner while staying at Le Grand Courlan in February, and lying down on a pool recliner for 10 minutes just looking at the skies.

Hi T,Yes you can see the Southern Cross fairly low on the horizon(about 10degrees,similarly the North pole star is low on the horizon almost (not quite)opposite,so you can use The Plough(Big Dipper) to locate the Cross.Have a great time,
