We're are off to Tobago in October and would like to rent 2 motorcycles. I've seen some posts on the forum about Sheppy's and probably one other business renting out bikes. Does anyone know what sizes they provide? She is only 162 cm tall and currently rides a Yamaha Dragstar back home and definatly needs a bike where both feet reach the ground. (I'll ride anything, maybe even Sheppy's Harley? 8) )

Hi Anbjørn

Welcome Aboard!

I'm afraid that you are going to be sadly dissapointed. To the best of my knowledge, Sheppy is the only rental agency that does hire motorcycles. I believe that there are one or two guys with small trail bikes, but I was also told by a visitor during my last trip that they're a bag of nails.

Other than the Harley article - I updated it yesterday) Sheppy's small bikes are simple 100cc step-thru motorcyclettes. I don't really know what to call them or what model they are. I saw a couple in his yard and they looked in adequate condition and would be fine as two-wheel runabouts, but not exactly a Yahaha Dragstar.

If I hear of anything else, I'll certainly let you know.

Steve, thanks for quick reply!
We enjoyed your review of Sheppy's Harley. If it wasn't for the price I'm sure my girlfriend would rent it. Except for the sound it's not very different from the Yahaha  Dragstar. I'm not sure if I understand what a motorcyclette is, but I would guess they look something like the 50cc mopeds that you could kind of cycle with? If they can bring us around I guess they're as good as anything.

Sorry Anbjørn - motorcyclette was a word I invented because I didn't know what to call it. They are not scooters - more like big mopeds, but obviously at 100cc they are motorcycles not mopeds. They have a step-through frame, like a girl's bicycle or scooter.

Yes, you're obviously not going to be doing high mileage and even in a car, average travelling speed across the island as a whole has got to be less than 30mph, so I imagine these little bikes are very handy little tools.
