We are staying in Castara in early October and I wondered if some of our users could advise what shops, restaurants etc are likely to be open at that time of year and will I find it easy to get tours organised.

all restaurants SHOULD be open....(but this is tobago)
cascreole is closed on sundays, the boathouse on saturdays, marguarites local cuisine is open every day, but might not be for dinner AND lunch, because she is mainly handling it by herself with her husband.
L&H is open every day as far as I know (just ask for the guy, he might be on the beach...). never visited the clay kitchen, but heard from touristes that it wasn't open regulary at all times.
for take away sherma in the pink shop have soups and pilau often except sundays. veras roti shop is open more and more often.
fresh bread (to make yourself a lovely sandwich) is sold at sherma and thursdays and saturdays at the clayoven by the school (baked in bananaleafs....) (for the tomatoes, cheese and friends meet ralph alias dj at the road to the big beach)
in all I think you wont starve here....
good appetite
