We are booked into the coco reef next year and have asked for 2 interconnecting rooms. The hotel have told us they are on the ground floor. I'm wondering what the ocean view will be like? Any comments please. many thanks.

Hi "J"
To be frank, it is best to assume that views of the sea will be minimal.
The gardens in front of the rooms are extremely lush, so will be the primary view, with only the merest glimpses of the sea. To be frank, I shouldn't let this bother you. How much time are you going to spend in your room? If you're anything like us, you'll only be there first thing in the morning (when I'm too bleary-eyed to see anything) and from late afternoon. It's dark by 7.00pm so you don't see anything in the evenings anyway - except that the gardens are nicely lit up, so ground floor rooms probably get a better view in the evenings.

Thanks for your speedy reply! We cant decide between interconnecting rooms on the ground floor, with possisbly not much of an ocean view, or to go for the two bed garden villas. Any comments on the villas would be gratefully received.
Thanks for a great web site.

Hi again 'J'
Well, the two-bedroom garden villas are lovely, secluded and quiet. The gardens are lovely and you MUST go on one of the twice-weekly conducted tours with the hotel's hoticulturists - she's a real laugh. The garden villas obviously provide a higher level of privacy and accommodation than the basic hotel rooms, without necessarily being any further from the main public rooms, such as the restaurant. You will not, however, get any view of the sea whatsoever from the garden rooms. To be frank, if you're going to spend most of your day around the beach, this shouldn't be an issue.
Interconnecting rooms

We stayed at Coco Reef in July and requested interconnecting rooms. I knew about the comments that ground floor rooms could be dark and asked for first floor rooms. We were put in 151/153 and it was fine. These are the two last rooms facing the beach and although are the furthest from the reception area (this can be an advantage if you don't want disturbed by the evening entertainment!) they are the closest to the beach (20 yards) and have a great sea view. The ground floor rooms are larger and we would be happy to have them again.
