Hi there I am only new to this site and I am due to stay at Le Grand Courlan in October - I did post a couple of messages before but I think I put them under the wrong topics so sorry!!! I am still finding my way around the site!!! What I wanted to know is what will the weather be like in October and does anyone recommend a day trip to Trinidad? If so, how easy is this to organise? Thanks. Great site by the way

Hey, Louise...
Welcome to MyTobago
ummm....on your prospective visit to Trinidad....

.... the only thing I think you'll get in Tinidad is a more active nightlife than Tobago (it is, however more dangerous here than Tobago). Tobago is more tourist-oriented and since it's not Carnival season, I don't see there being much for you to do in Trinidad. If you want shopping malls and faster pace of life, then there's no need to leave the familiarity of the U.K. - you can shop at home and
then unwind in Tobago.
If you're a nature-lover and you decide to see for yourself rather than take my word for it, you
might escape immense boredom by visiting the Asa Wright Nature Centre or the Caroni Bird Sanctuary- (I'd like to add that you can also do the eco-tourist bit in Tobago). Tobago's beaches are better, its scenery is more beautiful and it produces a wider variety of craft, which is possibly better than Trinidad's.
Do enjoy every day you're in Tobago! I can guarantee that at the end of your stay you'll feel like your vacation wasn't nearly long enough, so my advice is to spend every single waking moment taking in the beauty of Tobago. Hey, take it from me, I'm Trinidadian and I'd give up living here for Tobago any day.

Thanks!!!

hi louise
i was never interested in trinidad much, only heard about the dabger. but since we went over a few times now (mainly to shop) i saw some parts of the island and like to see more now.
advice: don't go without a guide. the know about dangerous places and would not go there.
a while ago we had a group that spend some time in trinidad. they got their whole time organized by GREEN BANGA NATURE TOURS. they where very satisfied. today Im going to meet someone from this company in tobago, beacause we feel it is safe to send people from here with them to see the beautyful swamps and other areas over there.
they are making personalized tours, too. not only groups.
you might like to get in touch with them to find out more:

hope you have a great time

And as for the weather......
Its rainy season in October. So there will be some rain ...but its usually heavy showers for a little while and then the sun comes out.
The showers are also quite often at night.
Occasionaly you might have a days rain.
Ive been a few times in September , October and November and the fact that its rainy season does not spoil the holiday.
Might be a bit more humid and you might get a few more mosquitoes.
Have a nice time

I realize this website is to promote Tobago, but we found Trinidad to be just as wonderful! We were first time visitors, in a rental car, and we didn't have any trouble! The scenery is breathtaking. The highlights were: being 10 feet from capuchin monkeys and macaws in the wild at Nariva Swamp, the tour through Asa Wright Nature Center during a downpour, the bake and shark at Maracas Bay, playing with a steel band in Arima, visiting an Indian pottery, and driving in the jungle-covered mountains. We also spent time in Port of Spain, and felt safe. We were in Tobago 4 nights and Trinidad 5 nights. It was all tremendous.
