Where should we get married???

Hi

We are hoping to come over to Tobago and get married on 29th January 2005. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a nice hotel to stay in?
We have been looking through the brochures here in the UK and the only two that have been recommended are The Hilton and Blue Haven.
Although we do want the accomodation to be special, we are not really bothered about staying in a MEGA hotel, with tennis courts, golf course etc.
I think that these hotels have been recommended because they offer the wedding packages at the hotel. We are aware of [email protected] and do intend to seek her advice. There will be just the two of us, as it is a long & expensive trip for the family.
I understand that there are a number of nice places to eat on the island outside the hotels. Are these and other activities reasonably priced?

Any advice on beautiful places for the wedding ceremony, hotels or parts of the island that we should think about staying (or avoiding!) would be very much appreciated.

We are both catholics, so a church wedding would be nice, but not essential.

Thanks.

Hi Andy

Welcome aboard!

All the top hotels offer wedding packages, so that's not a worry. I don't know what's involved in getting permission for a wedding at the catholic church, but Marie at Tobago Weddings is the best person to advise.

Which hotel is a matter of personal preference. Given what you say and the nature of your trip, I would personally opt for the Blue Haven. It's much smaller, quieter and more intimate than any of the other luxury hotels on Tobago. Check out our reviews for more detail.

Hi Andy,

we have just returned from Tobago (22.10.04) and got married there. We decided for the beach of Stone Haven Bay, which is a beautiful location. You've got rocks, sea, palmtrees and sand. Our wedding was very romantic and exactly what we have dreamed of and hoped for. It was just the two of us as well.

We stayed at Sherwood Park Apartment, Carnbee, which is very small (only 10 appartments) nice and romantic.

Marie Dilworth is a star! She was our wedding coordinator and I highly recommend you to contact her. She can make all your wishes come true and help you with all your questions and legalisations.

Don't worry about nice places to eat. You will see plenty of them when touring the island!!!

Where to get married

Hi
My husband & I have just returned from Tobago. We were married at the Hilton last weekend and we booked one of their jacuzzi suites (brilliant sunsets & sunrises from your balcony). We decided 8 weeks ago and I can't stress enough how good our wedding co-ordinator Jennylyn was. We didn't have a thing to worry about and ourselves and our few guests spent the morning before the wedding relaxing in the pool. Our photographs were excellent. I can highly recommend the Hilton, not just for their wedding packages but for the overall quality, friendliness of staff & the services they offer.

Oh, and don't worry about places to eat, you'll find plenty of places around when you get there. Just ask the guests or even the reception staff, they're normally spot on. We didn't have a bad meal whilst we were there except when we tried Melange on Shirvan Rd. Maybe we got them on a bad night but although the food wasn't bad it was overpriced compared to other places and we could all have died of thirst. There was apparently a lack of water, beer, wine & spirits the night we visited. Surprising really as you can always seem to buy local Carib beer by the case at the local supermarket.

Hope your wedding goes aswell as ours did and enjoy your trip.
