In search of something different

We are visiting Tobago for the first time in Mid October for 2 weeks. Where do I take the kids for something a little different (age eight and ten)?

Not sure about "different" but you have to take them snorkelling.
I took my 8 yo to Arnos Vale and he loved it.
I'd also recommend a trip on Cocomotion. It's fast and fun, although the faint hearted will prefer a seat at the back of the boat me and my son loved being thrown about up the front!
Also good value was Adventure Farm & Nature Reserve. Two dogs lead the way about the gardens where we saw many birds etc (as well as a snake!) and feeding the birds at the end of the walk was great (put fruit out, ring a bell, and the birds come in from the forest to eat, inc. hummingbirds).

I'm sure that Marc was referring to the beach, but also make sure to take them to the Arnos Vale Waterwheel Restaurant, not to eat, but to see the bats. Just walk on in about mid-day or afternoon, and ask about the restaurant (opening times etc).
They are probably still closed for renovation to be honest, but the walkway to the restaurant is hung with large fruit bats
that take off and return as you pass, so walk in anyway, until you meet someone, and ask if you can see the lovely bats.
The kids will love it. You will probably see the Mot-Mots (King of the woods, a large bird) nearby too, as there are plenty here.

Yep, I meant the beach. We also did the afternoon tea there (Arnos Vale Hotel) and whilst utterly delightful I thought it was a bit expensive.
We saw just as many birds at the Adventure Park and would definitely recommend it over Arnos Vale.
It's slightly different, Arnos Vale felt very colonial and serene (the clue is "afternoon tea"!) whilst the Adventure Park felt like we'd strayed into someone's rather large gardens (which of course we had!).
My son loved the Mot Mots, they were his major talking point upon our return (followed closely by the fish, turtles etc).
One thing is certain, those kids are going to absolutely love Tobago (as you will as well).

Hi Stephen,
I think your kids are just old enough to do a PADI bubble maker course, Not sure which dive centres will do it as its a bit specialised I suspect World of Watersports at the Hilton may do.
But its a great day for any young kid who is totally aquaphobic (is this a real word?). and I also builds a lot of confidence in the water.
Regards
Kevin
