Car rental for under 25s?

Help needed!

I'm coming to Tobago in November and wish to hire a car for 2 weeks.
(We're staying in Speyside so I think we'll definitely need a car to get around!)
All the guide books I've read say you have to be 25 or older to hire a car. Unfortunately I'm 24...

I realise that age must affect the insurance premiums, but does anyone know if any of the car hire companies will let a 24-year-old rent a car?

Many thanks,

Marie.

Hi Marie

Yes, the general guideline is that drivers must be 25 years or older and have had at least two years driving experience.

If you have had more than the 2 years experience and got a clean insurance record, then it could be worth contacting the rental companies and seeing if they can help. I always use Sheppy's these days, but my advice is to book through Yes Tourism, for all the reasons given in our Car Rental articles. I don't know whether they can help or not, but your best bet is to drop them an email and ask.
