myTobago – your questions, review and comment about Tobago

We have just returned from Tobago (Friday, 22.10.04) and had a great time and got married on the beach of Stone Haven Bay.
After our wedding, we went to Seahorse Inn, since it is situated on the same beach and therefore very handy. We had a wonderful diner there and the food was good, though very very expensive.

What we did not find very positive was:
1 the waiters were not friendly - very unlike Tobago atmosphere.
2 we had to sit upstairs directly under the roof, which was very inconvenient because of the heat and the small tables being too close together. My husband was not even allowed to put his chair on the other side of the table!!!!!!!!!!!
We had to sit there because the waiters said they expected rain, which was absolutely not the case.

On the last night of our stay in Tobago, we decided to go to Seahorse Inn again, to romantically celebrate our wedding once more. Again we got the same unkind treatment and we had to sit upstairs because of the rain...which was ridiculous! Never seen a sky with more stars. We left and went to La Terrassa and had a great, romantic, non-sweaty diner.

As I think you know, I also got married at Stonehaven and had our reception at the Seahorse Inn. I am sorry that you were so disappointed.

I didn't find the service too exceptional either - we had a very clumsy waiter during our meal who kept spilling wine on people and couldn't carry more than a plate at a time, but we thought it was quite funny. There was a large group of us - I think it would have ruined the intimacy if it had been a romantic meal for two... I also agree that they are not the friendliest waiting staff on the island. I still don't regret having our reception there - the food was simply divine and the owners went out of their way to make our day special.

I hope you had a good holiday/honeymoon generally? Did Brent marry you?

Thanks for your congrats!
Yes indeed, Brent Hart married us and his wife Christine was our photographer. She made the most beautifull pictures of us and we are so delighted with it! Brent is such a nice person. Everything was as we hoped it would be, so romantic with even a rainbow...can you believe it!!!
It was just the two of us, so no reception, just us having a romantic diner with champagne and the lots. We do not regret going to Seahorse Inn, but cannot recommend it either.

Well, your marriage will be blessed like ours - Brent 'gave' us four very special years together. I saw him again when we went back to Tobago this year and he is the most christian (both a noun and an adjective!) man I have ever met.

we had a great time!!!

Just back from 2weeks on the island and I have to say that by far the worst meal we had was at Seahorse. Unfriendly staff who didn't seem to care and the food was awful, real 'boil in the bag' stuff. We have eaten there many times over the past 5 years and it's always been among our favourites but the menu (which hasn't changed in those 5 years) now needs a revamp and the staff need to be made aware of all the excellent competition which exisits such as La Terrazza and Tartaruga which both have Italian food and wine spot on. We won't be eating at Seahorse again!
