Hi Katie
Well, you've got the main Penny Savers supermarket just up the road in Canaan. However, for quality bakery products try Golden Girls bakery near Penny Savers and for meat, try Morshead's Gourmet supermarket at Mount Pleasant (turn right at Me-Shells Restaurant).
I've no idea about a birthday cake, but try Golden Girls. It could also be worth checking with Vie de France opposite the airport.
Good quality chairs and tables - You will need to go to Trinidad, I suspect.

there is a birthday cake place kind of opposite tstt (a bit more in port direction).
you can have furnitur build by a carpenter or like steve said: try trinidad...
we had good experiences with the meat from YATs in the shaw park area. not to far from that it have the tobago baking service (opposite the high sschool) for bread... the best is for sure if you find a clay oven like in castara. the ladies bake there twice a week (thursday & saturday) homemade bread wrapped in banana leafs.... maybe you like to pass on a day out, in the "countryside"...
it's worth it!

Yes Katie, the "Golden Girls Bakery" (Cannan, about half way between Penny Savers and the Shirvan Road) would be delighted to make you a Birthday Cake I'm sure, but give them at least a day's notice, and tell them what you want, and ask what the price will be when you order. They made a lovely Chocolate cake for our 4 year old about three years ago, when we had his birthday party on the beach.
