we're planning to stay at coco reef in march. the question is meal plan or b&b only? we don't intend to spend _all_ our time in the hotel and will go out for meals and drinks elsewhere (at the restaurants you've all recommended!) the difference in price between "all inclusive" (i.e. full meal plan) and b&b is about 430 UK pounds each. will we really eat and drink 430 pounds worth each in 6 days? do you think it would be more prudent to simply pay for what we actually have? thanks again for any comments/suggestions!

Hi Paul
This is always a difficult question to answer. A lot depends upon how much time you will spend within the grounds of the hotel. Remember all your beach drinks, lunches, water, etc. It might be worth you while emailing the hotel (
[email protected]) and ask them to send you a copy of their menu and prices for the two restaurants. This might help you to make a decision. What might be financially prudent for one couple could be wrong for another. Either way, enjoy and let us all know how you get on.

Dear Paul,
If you scroll back on the forum to 29th and 30th January you will see that somebody else posed the same question - and I replied to it then. It probably works out more, but it is a lot less hassle. As I said in the other review, I knew some people who started off as B&B but changed over to all inclusive after a day or two. If you are really going to have many meals out, then it wouldn't be worth going all inclusive. But don't forget it is hot and it's lovely to just order drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic when you feel like it). Over to you!!

many thanks miranda. golden rule: always look back to make sure you're not asking the same question again! according to titas@blueyonder we shouldn't be going to coco reef if we're asking this question. presumably titas went b&b and paid for every last thing without a care. i submit that good financial management always involves consideration of whether or not you are getting the best possible deal, regardless of your financial status. what's the point in spending more money than you have to? thanks again for all your helpful comments. much appreciated.
