Kite flying at Plymouth

I would like to recommend anyone staying over the Christmas period to try to attend the annual kite flying competition at Plymouth.

This year we will miss it (as we don't arrive until 1st January), but last year we saw hundreds of kites of all sizes, ranging from 2 inches across, to 12 feet tall, with every colour of the rainbow used in each handmade design.

It is mostly locals of course, so in my opinion, it is a special occasion of local culture not to be missed, with local barbecue on sale to help you through the day.

I don't know the actual date this year, but last year it was between Christmas and the New Year. If you do know the date, please could you let me and anyone else who is interested know?

8 days to go!

If anyone else is interested, I just found this article about the results of the Tobago Kite Flying competition this year:

It looks like it was actually held whilst I was in Tobago and I missed it this year. :(

In 2005, it is on 27th December (as it was in 2003 I believe). One for the calendar Steve?
