we went on a day out with kalina cats and had a brilliant time ,the food was lovely and eveybody on board really friendly.my husband did some great snorkling and they even managed to get me in the water at the nylon pool with my sprained ankle!!! the only sad thing is the site of the dead coral, its a shame that people aren't more considerate to ther surroundings.
we had a great day and would definately recommend it!

Good to see that Kalina are back.

Where was the dead coral ... I guess you are referring to Buccoo Reef or was it somewhere else?

yes it was buccoo reef. my husband said he could see some of it trying to come back but the islanders need to change their ways if they want it to really come back. we were told it was the glass bottom boats that cause all the problems and i'm pleased to say that we didn't go on one and don't intend to. apparently anyone can get a boat and start trips and most of them aren't insured! Kalina cats are very carefull where they go i'm afraid even they can't do anything about the jelly fish!! :!: :!:

That's a relief ... I thought you mean't somewhere else.

It's not as bad as it was, there is a protection order in place and the GBB's seem to be getting clued up about it ... that was my understanding last year compared to 4 years previously when tourists were given sandals to stomp all over the corals.

I'd be really concerned to hear if sandals practice is still going on.

Anyway the progress is still not good enough, but a step in the right direction ... give or take a few hundred years or so it may restore itself to half of it's former glory.
