We are traveling to Tobago in February and are planning a BBQ at our resort the first night for all our friends. Any suggestions on where to get good take away food for side dishes? Like macaroni pie, callaloo, dessert, etc? We need a place that is open early in the evening, as we're planning dinner for around 8 p.m. Thanks!

Where are you staying?

We are staying at the Sandy Point Beach Club in Crown Point. We will also have a car, so anything within a 15 minute drive or so. We'll be BBQing our own meat/fish, so looking for some excellent sides and desserts. David, I read that your are in Tobago right now...enjoying excellent weather, I hope. It's frigid and snowing in New Hamphsire, USA, but I think that's good news because it's part of the normal weather pattern and, thus, Tobago should be in the dry season when we arrive Feb. 17. Can't wait!

Oh, one of my favorite subjects =P~

Assuming that you are in the Crown Point area:

Barton's - great barbeque, especially on Friday with selection of Coocoo, Calalloo, Macaroni pie, noodles etc for about $25-30TT$.

Chef's BBQ - In my opinion, not quite as good as Barton's (when latter was not open) which is just across the road, but still good.

If it has re-opened by the time you visit, try Alphamega on Friday evenings, though further from Crown Point area. The Store Bay huts are also good for local dishes, but most of their dishes may be frozen stuff warmed up in a microwave nowadays I think.
