Does anyone know if there are taxis readily available at the airport. We are travelling to Arnos Vale and wonder if we would need to book an airport transfer for an exhorbitant fee from a travel operator or take pot luck at the airport. Average price for the transfer would be good if you know. Thanks Doreen

There were plently of taxis available at the airport when we arrived. There is a list of taxi fares on this site here
http://www.mytobago.info/taxis02.php - it mentions these were the prices in 2003 but I don't think they've gone up much since then - certainly not to Castara anyway. It's always best to check the price before getting into the taxi. Information also found on this site states that "Official taxis carry vehicle registration plates that start with the letter 'H'"
If you contacted the Arnos Vale they may arrange for a taxi to pick you up for a similar fee. At the end of a long flight it's great to be met by someone so you don't have the hassle of organising your own transport.

I agree with Julia,BUT make sure it is an H registerd car(ie the first letter is H,P means private car,so no insurance and dodgy prices).A registered driver will dispplay his badge and charges. To Arnos Vale it should be 45to 60TT$.As Julia said contact Arnos vale they will probably collect you.Have great time.

OR if you go with a tour operator the number plate don't matter, because insurance and licening works different for them!!!
just said for guests who already booked a taxi from home, not to be worried when it turns out to be a p or r car that picks them up.
for the spontanious taxi hire david is right.... go with the h!
would go with julias suggestion and check with arnos vale...otherwise there are always many drivers at the airport. even when the martinair came in in the middle of the night the other week. there where still drivers waiting.
