wow!!!!!!. It is the season of bacchannal, wineing, carrying on and getting on wassy, yes my tobago members and veiwers,it is the carnaval season.ëh wah you missin?",oh nothing much, just sweet melodious music from the steel pan,our national instrument, "wah what else?',just the beauty and joy we trinbagonians get from this thing we call feteing. If you ask, what is that?,well, just think of you being in one of your countries biggest musician concert, you know, thousands of people a few dj and you and your freinds having a good time, add wineing, alcohol,a whole month of every weekend jumping and waving and there, you have fetteing. To be honest tobagos idea of a fete though the same as trinidads, is a little bit more smale scale when compared but the enjoyment when compared is still the same. But wait ah almost forget to tell allu about the mass, dat is carnival monday and tuesday.People young and old in costumes so beautifull and raidiant parading, jumping, wineing and having a good time.Doh worry,if you are a person who dont like the crowd and just want to spectate then you can do so very easily. So book a ticket quick and if not, plan for next year,a go keep allu intune soh doh worry bye for now from tobago.

Yeah - tell us all about it 'M', I've never been, but when we left the Panyards were all practising for Panorama. Is that over now, and have the bands returned to Tobago? We saw Carib Dixieland and Katzenjammers play in their yards, and it was fantastic to watch. I still don't even know who won from Tobago?
Is there much other music apart from Pans at carnival, if so, what kinds? Also can you tell us, is there a route that the Carnival follows, or is it all over the place. Must try to come over next year!
Steve.

Hi, Marvin,
Last February (it was after carnival), we were driving along the east coast highway and a bunch of young people were gathering outside a community center. It looked like they were getting ready to practice on steel drums.
We wanted to stop and listen, but were concerned that it might have been a private occasion and that we might be imposing if we stopped to listen. Are tourists OK at these occasions? I'd love to stop and listen, but I don't want to be pushy or assume I'm welcomed.

Does anyone know if there is any TV coverage of the Carnival available in the UK. This morning we saw some Pan music on Sky channel 211, ACTV, but it was not recent stuff.
For Pan music, I found this link, which has many recordings and samples to listen to

Hi Steve and Jill
Thanks for the link to the steel pan music - it's brilliant!!
Takes me straight back to Sunday school - I only need a Carib in hand to complete the picture.
In fact - 10 weeks tonight, Hugo and I should be there!
