Dear all

I have found this forum very helpful indeed in the last few weeks so I was wondering if you could help me with this one:

Is there anywhere I can rent snorkling gear from in charlotteville (if so, roughly how much would it be)? or am I better off buying some before I get there?

cheers, Emilia

Hi Emilia,
For what it costs I'd buy it in the UK. Nothing is worse than a mask that doesn't fit and keeps leaking. Go to a decent dive shop and they will have a good selection of different makes to try till you get a good fit. Fins and snorkel are a bit less critical but what the heck its only money, and they will last you a lifetime.

If your in London 5th 6th March the London International Dive Show (LIDS) is on in London Docklands and you can try loads of stuff and you will get some good discounts on all the bits you need.

Regards
Kevin

thankyou kevin,

will follow your advice- I think I'd be so annoyed if I got there and didn't enjoy it at its full potential.

unfortunately won't be able to take advantage of dive fair as am leaving on Saturday... :D

Hi Emilia,
You should have no problem getting a good mask and bit at a local dive shop.

When your in Charlottville Get round to Pirates bay it's a 20 minute walk around the coast or a quick boat ride from on of the fishermen. The snorkelling is really good over the rocks at both ends of the beach. The only thing to watch is high tide as almost all of the beach is covered so make sure you stuff doesn't float away when your enjoying yourself.

If you fancy a Try Dive get round to Aquamarine at the Bluewaters Inn in Speyside ask for Joe the Float and tell them Kevin the Diverat sent you.

Enjoy You Holiday.
