Euro conversion

hello all,

I think it's possible to change € in TTDollars, isn't it?
In Scarborough we should convert our Euros at a Bank or at any other place?

Do you think it's better to take Euros or change it before to USD?! This option will have more charges, since we should change it again to TTDollar, shouldn't we?

Once again, thanks.

Decio, you can change Euros in the banks and Cambio, but some Irish friends of mine found thet very few places accepted Euros as currency(unlike US$ orGBP)but more and more places are accepting credit cards.

Thank you David.
I can search for that spots. i think it's better than paying taxes twice, don't you think?!
Did your friends get the possibility to change their Euros?!
Do you know where and if the rates were acceptable?

Thank you,
Décio

Hi Décio,

Yes, just change your euros at a bank in Scarborough for a reasonably acceptable rate. No problem at all and no sense in having a double exchange rate (from euros to US dollars to TT dollars). I was able to offer my last landlady euros or dollars but she asked for TT because it would save her a trip to the bank!

You can also use various ATMs in Scarborough to get TT dollars - although sometimes they will work for you and sometimes they won't. Just keep trying different machines (there has been a thread about ATMs before).

I don't know where you are staying - I only have experience with Castara where in case of emergency I could exchange euros at Max's shop (slightly worse rate) so that I could pay for my groceries in the little shops along the way.

I hope this helps... and enjoy your time there!
