Work in Tobago

Hi Martin
I´m afraid it´s not so easy to get a work anywhere in the Caribbean. Mostly islands have a rule, locals first than others, if they can´t find anyone else.

You say you are a student, maybe it would be possible for you to do something via a university, depending on your skills. Maybe you could ask via your university?

But it also depend on the rules for visas between Germany and Trinidad & Tobago. Visitors from countries are alloew to have a work for 3 months, sometimes more. BUT, you will still need a document that you really are going to work. The customs does always made a stamp into my passport "Not alloewd to work..."

If you are lucky, choose Tobago, not Trinidad. Why? Because Trinidad can be dangerous for someone who have never been there, Tobago is safe and more easygoing.
Good luck.

It is extremely difficult to get a work permit for Trinidad and Tobago. You need to be working in an occupation where there is no possibility that any locals can do the job. Short of setting up your own company (which I have done) it is impossible. It has taken 9 months for a work permit approval for 2 years and these are like gold dust and very expensive.

You can only get a two week pass from immigration for any business on the islands. You can though get a work permit through volountary work or student work so that may well be worth looking at unless you have a unique skill
