Hello,
I am planning a trip to Tobago from September 23 2005- October 2 2005. I know the tobago fest is Sep 28 ( not positive about start date) to october 2. I am having a hard time finding out events that will take place, and also the area of the island the events will take place. I want to stay in Charlottsville for a couple days, and then relocate to the area of the island of the fest. Anyone ever been to Tobago Fest and have any stories, comments, or suggestions as what to do or where to stay for the fest. I am interested in any help..thanks a lot.

Hello Kristine
Welcome aboard!
As far as I know, the Tobago Fest is a relatively low-key affair organised by the National Carnival Bands Association. Sadly, I have been unable to find any website for the NCBA and the only contact number I have is the one shown for the Tobago Fest in our Calendar of Events. It is very much a series of small community-based musical events, I imagine - but hopefully somebody local will confirm. It's certainly not a big tourist event.
Thanks for your reply

Hello Steve,
I appreciate your help. So being small and community based event do you think it would be inappropriate for me and my mom and boyfriend to attend some of the events--or is it just something isnt appropriate for tourists to attend. My reason for wanting to attend was that I am very interested in hearing some wonderful music, as well as getting a first hand look at some of the culture. I sortof had the impression that it was a mini carnival. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Good Lord no - the local people will be ever so chuffed that you're interested and taking an interest in their events. You will be made more than welcome. I just didn't want you thinking it was anything like Trinidad Carnival and then being dissapointed. If the events are on while you are there, then certainly it will be well worth heading to them.

just to let you know. I will be there too for Tobago Fest in September. Please do not be put off in going to have a look or even better join in. I have been to this fest for the last three years. The locals love the tourists joining in. The main event takes place on the first night. Which is jouvert. It is on the main high street in Scarborough. Dont get there too early and make sure your're ready to party. You cannot miss it. It goes on for the whole night until about 8 in the morning. Following on from that is the usual mass in the day which is where the parades take place. Again on the main street. Make sure you wear something comfortable and clothes that you dont mind getting wet in or covered in paint. The atmosphere is fantastic for the whole weekend. After that there are liming parties all over. Shades, Which is around Bon Accord is the latest bar/club. they I know are having live acts on over the period. If you want to join in party Tobago I really do reccomend you go to Tobago Fest. If you need anymore info you can e mail me.
[email protected] I hopefully can let you know some more.
