Our opinion on Arnos Vale Hotel

We stayed at Arnos Vale Hotel from 11-18 March 05 and these are our views.

The birds are magnificent, so many species and so little time. We thought the beach was very good, but was a little steep. Also the sea could be a bit rough at times. The snorkelling was great but the sea can be a bit unpredicable to say the least.

The food at dinner, apart from one night was first class. Lunch was a bit of a disappointment at times, but OK overall. Breakfast was good apart from pre-cooked "scrambled" eggs.

The hotel generally was very good but our room needed a lot of tlc. The staff were very pleasant, very friendly and very efficient. "Many thanks to Christian for all your help".

Overall a great holiday, but the toilet facilities on the beach (which are part of the hotel restaurant building so I presume were run by them) constantly leaked from around the back somewhere and were consequently in an almost permanent state of flood. It took three days for them to be cleaned in one instance and the smell was not very nice.

Apart from the little problems (all easily rectifiable) we thought Arnos Vale was a great place with stunning scenery, a remarkable abundance and variety of plant and animal life. We had a great time and plan to return again in the future.

Hope this has been of some help.

Regards Doreen :D

We stayed at the Arnos Vale in February and were impressed by the location, the birds and the very friendly staff.

However, we were uninmpressed by the room. The room was generally quite tatty & in need of refurbishment - the wardrobe doors didn't even shut properly!!!. The air conditioning was so noisy we had to turn it off at night - a ceiling fan would have made the room much more comfortable as it was too hot at night.

On discussion with other guests, we all agreed that it would be nice to be able to get a snack/light meal somewhere at the hotel in the evening as the only option was a full dinner. Often after a day out with a big lunch, a full dinner in the evening was too much. In general the food was good and the location of the resturant/birds stunning.

The beach, snorkelling and freshwater pool were excellent and we spent much time relaxing....much needed!!!

All in all the hotel would be perfect if the rooms are refurbished and there was availability of light meals in the evenings.

We stayed there in mid-May. Have to say I thought the setting, food and service were all excellent. The beachside rooms were a little primitive (We had come on a lastminute.com deal and I didn't know about any other options...) - agree with others they could do with refurbishment.

Breakfast and dinner were superb as was the lunch when we were there. Freshwater pool great and birds like nothing I have seen.

From other 'name' hotels we saw something of when on tours, we made a good choice.
