The highlight of my week in Trinidad and Tobago was Easter weekend in Buccoo, Tobago. Stayed at the Polo Bar. Clean and comfortable. Friendly and helpfull staff and enjoyed a delicious seafood lunch (though a tad expensive I thought). E-mail Charlie your dates and flights and he'll meet you at the airport (pick up and return). Nice touch...
Had an incredible birthday dinner at The Shirvan Water Mill Restaurant. Gorgeous, lush surroundings, attentive service and top notch cuisine. Enjoyed home made bread, pate, river lobster and a bottle of champagne.
Later on Sunday Scool- DO NOT miss the steel pan performance near Buccoo beach from 8-10pm. Later, be prepared for massive sound systems blaring reggae, soca etc till 5am!! Don't count on sleeping- just join in the fun...Friendly, welcoming vibe. Easter Monday enjoyed goat races, carnival games and wonderful creole food in Mt Pleasant. Missed the greasy pole event which no doubt would have been good for some laughs....
Other Tobago highlights: Buccoo beach is absolutely stunning- walk a little ways along the beach for more shade/sun options. And amazing snorkling 10 meteres from the beach at King Peter's Bay - long but scenic drive up the West coast of the island...
Final highlight- Tobago Express flight back to Trinidad was held up so "His Excellency, Prof. Max Richrds" and entourage could get on our flight! Only in T & T!!
I can hardly wait to return....
