Hi

My fiance and I are considering getting married in Tobago next year. We both want to get away from all the fuss and expense that usually accompanies a wedding. So we thought why not get married in Tobago. We are looking to have a quiet intimate wedding with just close relatives, and the wedding has to be affordable. So far I am looking into Rex Turtle Beach and Ocean Point Resort.

Is there anyone else who has some advice for me?

THANKS

Hello Jenice

Welcome aboard!

The two places you suggest are very different, as I'm sure you know being locally based. The Rex is an all-inclusive hotel set on a wonderful beach location (see our Review for full details), whereas the Ocean Point is a budget apartment house set on a very windy stretch of coast. Neither of these properties are within walking distance of shops/restaurants, etc., so you may need to budget for rental vehicles, particularly if you choose the apartment house where you'll obviously need to do grocery shopping etc.

Hope this helps, but please come back if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the speedy reply

Is there anyother hotels that you can think about where I could possibly get married.

So far Rex is the only one that I am seriously considering.

Thanks

Hi again

As far as I know, you can get married in any hotel on the island. Its simply (???) a matter of finding a hotel that suits your taste and budget.

Thanks for for the reply

I did some checking this weekend only to find out that I do not have to be staying at a particular hotel inorder to get married there. I do not know why I was under that impression. Silly of me. This new development has certainly given me alot more options.

Not sure if this is going to help you but I got married in Tobago last year (10th November). I was due to marry in Grenada but the Hurricane put an end to our year of planning!. We had 8 weeks to re-arrange our wedding and we decided on Tobago...whilst in Tobago we managed to see lots, as friends and family stayed in different hotels (due to the short notice). We actually got married in Coco Reef Hotel and it was absolutely amazing, the staff were very friendly and could not do enough to help. The wedding planner with-in the hotel was brilliant and our day went very smoothly. However we found the Coco Reef is slightly more expensive than other hotels but we felt it was well worth it because the day was perfect. We watched a wedding in The Hilton which again was amazing but again it was expensive and there is not so much of a personal touch to it. I would highly recommend getting married at the Coco Reef, they have a number of settings for the ceremony and the staff will ' bend over backwards' to make the day special. If you have any questions about your special day or your time in Tobago, I would be happy to help.
Kind Regards
Nicola
