Speedy Tobagan Fire Engine

During our recent stay at a villa in Mt Irvine we saw a bush fire near the golf course, on the road upto Pinehurst Drive. A call to the fire station was duly made and a fire engine summoned.
We sat on our balcony, yes with rum coke and Stag (the best beer by the way!) in hand, to watch events. We heard the sirens that heralded their journey. Unfortunately they soon stopped and I wondered if I had given bad directions!
Then we spotted the lights of two fire engines making their way at a very sedate pace on the road through the golf course. Not helpful when the fire was taking hold and burning well. When the convoy came into sight I could see why they were going slowly - they were following a chap on a golf buggy!!!!!!!!
The slow pace of life in Tobago strikes again. Having said that when they did eventually get to the fire they extinguished it fairly quickly.
