Do I get it right, is there no doctor farther up north than Scarborough? No chance to get medical help in Speyside? (I did see this foto of the Speyside Medical centre...)
My friend and I are rather prone to allergic reactions, she has a very bad case of food allergie,(see flavour enhancers topic) and I react rather intensly on bugs and other nasty bites. So should we bring all possible medication for it as there is no doctor or farmacy on this end of the island?

Hi V

Yes, you have read it right. As far as I know, there are no doctors or pharmacies north of Scarborough. There is, however, an extensive emergency services centre at Roxborough - fire, ambulance and the only decompression chamber in T&T. I guess there will be registered nurses stationed in Roxborough, Speyside and Chrlotteville and a doctor probably visits the small health centres in each of these villages once or twice a week.

Yes, you would be advised to bring all likely medication. Remember, Speyside is only an hour's drive from Scarborough.

Hi I have just posted this in the BWI accommodation section, as I didn't know you were here too!

However, if you take a moment to look about bugs and bites there is loads already on this site - just the next topic down has more than a few pages. I think you need to take a moment to read what is already here to get the best answers to your questions.

Copied text from accommodation forum as follow:
I hope your do not have any problems on holiday, but I suggest you get a good holiday insurance policy to cover any health/medical problems. If you are staying in a self catering studio at BWI you will be able to prepare most things yourselves and shop for fresh produce locally. I am sure BWI will do their best to help (they may not even know if certain items they use contain this flavour enhancer), so I think at the end of the day the responsibility for what you eat is yours, only you can decide if you want to eat something or not.

Alternatively Kariwak Village is a holistic resort with a menu made from natural ingredients, most grown in their own gardens. Unfortunately it is a long way from Speyside being located in Crown Point. Worth a visit maybe, check out this linkhttp://www.mytobago.info/hotels/kariwak ... -haven.htm. Also, have a look at the restaurant and cuisine section on this website, Steve has already published full list places, see it at
http://mytobago.info/cuisine.php.

What about the food on the airline? Have you pre-arranged something?
Hope you have a pleasant time with no need to visit the doctors.
Well done Steve for the full info on emergency services.

Take your mediaction etc in your hand lugguage. Not in the hold incase you get delayed or your suitcase is misplaced!

thanks

Both thanks for your swift reaction, of course we are responsible for what we eat, I'm just try to get as much information as possible beforehand (also about the nice things). And what better place is there to find out whatever you want to know about Tobago
