Tobagophiles and
Tobago Nuts may be interested in the collection of old picture postcards of Tobago that I've now used to illustrate our History articles (menus:
Tobago/History).
The postcards are reproduced here by kind permission of Scott Henderson, who lives in Canada. Very little detail is known, other than that they were all published between 1900 and around 1950.
I hope you enjoy them.

Glad you could use the images for this site Steve. A little correction thou. The chrome postcards do date from 1940 to 2002.
On a similar theme. Almost all who have been to Tobago have seen the signs thruout the island saying "Almondoz for Nail's", "Almondoz for HairPins", Etc, Etc. Well he has recently published a booklet with 24 postcard images that is available in Tobago for those who are interested. I havent had the chance to get it yet but next time I am in Tobago I will be checking it out.

Hi Scott
Which are the "chrome postcards". Perhaps you could identify any of the later cards so that I can correct the information shown on the enlargement page for the illustration.

I could give better dates with a little research when I get the cards back in my possesion from the Museum.

Thanks, Scott, for some wonderful images of Tobago in earlier times. I'm a sucker for old photos - and these are particularly fascinating- especially the black/white ones.
Thanks also to Steve for building them into the "History" area of the site so well - they really add something extra to what was already an interesting and informative section.

Thanks Jane. I have had little luck in getting old Toabago photos for my collection. A little better luck at old postcards is all I have had. I have from an informed souce that maybe 500 different postcards of Tobago in postcards Vintage Age where manufactured and I am trying to get as close to that as possible.
If anyone has images pre 1950 I would love to see scans of them.
