Tobago remembers

On our first trip to Tobago last year we met quite a few locals around the Pigeon Point and Store bay areas who we enjoyed a few Caribs with or simply chatted to in the shops. My Husband has a large tattoo on his back and soon became known as Tigger.

We returned at the same time this year and I was stunned as to how many of them remembered us, they must meet hundreds of tourists over the course of a year, but we were constantly greeted with 'welcome back, respect, you said you'd come back and you have'! I went into one of the shops at Pigeon Point and the lady there said 'I remember you from last year' I was a bit dubious, till she said, 'where's you friend, she bought a dress for her daughter, did it fit ok?'

I know that the Tobagoans are very hospitable, but this treatment really did make us feel special.

Hi Linda,
That's one of the wonderful things about Tobago. We have been going back to Speyside for a couple of years and its now like going back to see old friends.

I was once told that Tobago didn't have tourists it had guests.

Regards
Kevin

Hi

very true about being remebered. We went to tobago and stayed at the Rex last year and returned this year. The staff remembered us, the locals did, it was very strange but felt fantastic. Don't think i'm quite hard to forget though. I had long red and black braids in my hair last year and this year have blue and black. Wonder what i'll get next year????
