Steve, would you be able to tell me whether I needed a visa or something if I was going to live in Tobago for 1 year, not working and in a private house? I have tried to contact embassy but no response and really need to know quite urgently. Thankyou for assisting. Jacqui

Hi Jacqui
My understanding is that on arrival, your passport will be stamped with a sort of visa - permission to stay up to 3-months. After that, you have to visit the Immigration department and plead you case and hope they will extend it. I know many people who have stayed 6 months without problem. Staying a year will be a matter of convincing them that you are self-supporting, not working and there for good reason, I guess.
I'm no expert in this side, so if anybody can confirm/correct the above, it would be appreciated.

Hallo Steve,
You´re right. Normally You don´t have any problems to get an extension. On the other site, there is no chance for a work-permit.No.
Have a nice day.

if they don't give you a second extension after 6 month you can just "go on a holiday" for a few days and come back in. I went to NY for 10 days two years ago and it worked....
