Hello we are staying on the tobago plantations area from thursday for a week and was wondering as we are only 22 and 23 we cannot rent a car and have never been on a scooter so are there any ways to get around the island possibly if scooters are easy to ride we might rent some or are we in a good enough area to walk to most places?
Also i know its nothing to do with transport but are there plenty of pay phones around?

Hi Adam
I'm sorry, but you're going to find walking anywhere from Tobago Plantations a very long and hot procedure. You're within 10 minutes drive of lots of lovely beaches, restaurants, shops and other features and facilities, but transport will be essential.
I believe Sheppy was just about to receive a batch of small motorcycles/scooters when I was over there earlier this year. I would contact him becuase he is undoubtedly the best man to arrange something for you. His contact details are in our Tobago/Getting About section.
There are pay phones, but I wouldn't describe them as exactly frequent.

There is also a fairly new place renting small motorbikes and scooters on the main road through Canaan, just up the road from Pennysavers supermarket and on the other side... unfortunately I haven't got a name or number for them but they may be another option and you could even stop off there to check them out on your way from the airport to Tobago Plantations. The place is easy to spot as it usually has a row of bikes/scooters sitting outside!

Hi Rachel
Thanks for that. They are Fun Bikers Motorbike Rentals and full contact details are listed in our Tobago/Getting About/Motorcycle Rental section. I didn't recommend them because as far as I know their bikes all larger 125's and above.
