Hi there,
Me and my fiancé have decided with the spiraling costs of weddings in the UK to get married in Tobago and we have booked to stay at the Rex Turtle Beach Hotel for two weeks in November this year.
Have read some mixed reviews about the hotel, but despite this we saw pics of the beach location and the gardens and thought this was exactly what we wanted to make our dream day come true.
Has anybody been married at this hotel who can tell us what it is like?
Many thanks
Mark

Mark,
Be careful about which pictures you look at for the Rex Turtle Beach. I understand a lot of the gardens were taken away when they built the new pool. I have been for the past two years and I know that there are alot of old pictures still being used in brochures and on the internet. If you post the link of the pictures you have seen, we could probably tell you if it's an old or new picture.

Simply look at the photos in our review of the Rex Turtle Beach (Reviews/Accommodation menu above). All the photos on there were taken in February this year by yours truly, so I can guarantee that they are representative of the hotel as it is now.

Hi...
we´ve been to the Rex in June... There were 3 couples which married at the beach in front of the Rex and it looked very nice... If you are into "Garden Eden" surroundings you better chose another place to take pic´s... (I would do so... and go to Pigeon Point to take pic´s)

Hi Mark
We returned from the RTB two weeks ago and saw a wedding taking place there on our last day.
Everyone seemed really jovial and happy, but very, very hot! The men had morning suits on (with shorts instead of trousers) which looked v smart but they would have been much more comfortable in something cooler. At this wedding, they placed an archway in the garden by the pool and the ceremony took place there.

We got married at Rex Turtle Beach in 2001, and are planning to return next summer to celebrate our 5th Wedding Anniversary. Our Wedding Day was perfect in every way, and the staff and locals we met did everything to make our day perfect. One hint I would give you is to ask for your Wedding to be timed for about 4.00pm, it is "slightly" cooler then, but also after the ceremony, within about 1/2 hour (may be different in Nov) the sun starts to set, and with the breath taking sunsets, gives you the most amazing backdrops for your Wedding Photos...Good Luck

Hi everybody,
Thank you kindly for all your responses.
We just got back about 2 weeks ago from Turtle Beach and had a lovely time.
The wedding was fantastic and we couldn't have wished for more. Beautiful setting in the gardens facing the beach with the sea rolling in. The wedding took place at 3pm and was very hot.
We were well looked after by the hotel manager and wedding co-ordinator and they made sure our day went off without any hiccups.
Two other weddings took place there during our two week stay and these also looked really nice.
If I had to make one complaint about the hotel it would be that both the food and the entertainment is very much the same each night, so it is advisable to vary your stay up a little by eating out once in a while whilst you are there.
I have lots of photos of our stay whilst we were there so if anybody would like to see pics of both the hotel complex and or the wedding please post me a pm.
Thanks
Mark
