hi can you all help me? i have a budget of around 50 USD-70USD (for a nice place). my top needs: a) easy access to pidgeon point or some other beach where i won't be hassled, but where i will not be all alone either (i will be too nervous); b) accommodations that are not isolated, in case i want to go out for a snack in the early evening, i want to return someplace not remote. c) nothing too creepy in decor. if i could afford a hilton, that would be my idea of nice accommodations. i'll be coming from an eco rafting trip and this is my chance to be clean and happy. thank you- i'm leaving in two days for the first part of my trip- all advice great;y appreciated! d) car rentals seem really pricey, and i don;t drive stick shift. thanks- deedee

Hi Deedee.
Sorry nobody's answered earlier, but it’s been one of those days (weeks). You've asked a difficult one, to be honest. I don't think there are a lot of places that ideally cater for singles without huge ‘single’ supplements. Jill and I have limited knowledge of this type of accommodation and the only place we could personally recommend for a single girl/lady is the B&B guest room at Hummingbird Heights, but that's at Scarborough. Shirley, the owner is currently in residence (she takes it in turns with her husband Neil) and loves keeping guests company and showing them around when that’s what they want, so it's an ideal situation for singles. Shirley didn’t have a car but was getting one when we were there in January. There are lots of small auto cars, but they're not cheap. Other than that, I don't know what to suggest. Hopefully somebody else can contribute suggestions before you leave.

Just returned from a two-week trip in Trinidad (for Carnival) and Tobago. We have timeshare in Tobago at Sandy Point Beach Club and it is wonderful. If a unit is open you can rent a studio with full kitchen for about $60. They have daily shuttle to Pidgeon Point. Also within walking distance of many restaurants. The Sandy Point Village next door offers similar rates, but the service is not great. There is also a place called Belleviste Apts. next to Sandy Point that was recommended and affordable. For eating, definitely try Sandy Point Beach Club, Ruby Lou's and Bonkers.

thanks, steve- if i raised my budget, is there a beach place you could suggest for the safety/swimming aspect? or a guesthouse? despite this amazing site, i am having trouble figuring out where thingsa are located, but i'm pretty sure i should be in/near pigeon point for the beach thing...

Hi Deedee
The problem is that there are very few guesthouses within immediate (4-5 min) walking distance of 'busy' beaches. I'm going to play safe and suggest the Crown Point Beach Hotel. This is within your budget and is literally a couple of minutes walk of Store Bay - which is a much better option than Pigeon Point from your point of view. Have fun!

Sandy Point Beach Club and Sandy Point Village are adjacent, but managed separately. Try the Beach Club. Also, if you do the Village, see if you can get a room facing the ocean (there are 4).
