It is with very great pleasure that I can announce that the long-awaited sale of Pigeon Point was completed last Monday and that 60-acre estate now belongs to the people of Tobago.

The government (THA) paid the ANSA/McAl conglomerate subsidiary that owned the land TT$106m (approx £9.1m) for the peninsula. The THA has not announced their plans for the property and there wasn't even a formal handing-over ceremony as they want to return the property it to its former pristine condition before doing so.

I am certainly no fan of government-run institutions, so still have serious concern about the future of Pigeon Point. I am just grateful, however, that the property has be wrestled away from Sabga and his friend Heather McKenna, whose confrontational style has done nothing but harm to Tobago.

just heard from richie-wild turtle dive shop-hand over completed but they took everything sun beds, office furniture the lot
THA will really have their work cut out to get it back into pristine condition we dived with richie in august and the whole place was looking very neglected
he needs his dive shop rebuilt and is managing in very cramped conditions-with no rent reduction-but still manages to provide a fantastic service-we've dived with wild turtle every year since 99 and cant wait to get back and see what progress has been made-hopefully the people of tobago will benefit from the income and it will go back to a more local feel-shrimp+chips after a great dive was my idea of heaven-pizza+burgers just didn't have the same appeal
thanks for a great site-i really am a saddo and check in every couple of days just to feel a bit closer to paradise
