We have just signed up to do our Open Water Referral diving course in the UK - hoping to do our open water dives once we arrive - we are off on the19th Jan

Have read the reviews etc on diving - just wondering if anyone can recommend which is the best, near to were we are staying as the nearest one only comes out with 3*+.

Getting excited now - just hope the hotel is nice as i keep reading mixed reviews

Thanks
C

Welcome aboard Charlotte.

Don't read too much into the fact that Adventure Eco Divers are only ranked 3*+ - they're up against some pretty tough competition. They're perfectly safe and competent, with reasonable gear. However, any of the dive services in the south-west of the island (Crown Point, Lower Caribbean and Lower Atlantic) are within a 15 minute drive and most will offer you a collection and return service to your hotel.

Good to hear that u will be out in Tobago soon. You will probably get a load of advice on who to go to. Everyone has their favourites. So, I will give u mine. I too will out there at that time. I started diving in Tobago, completing my PADI course with R & sea Divers. Since then I have been back with them each time furthering my diving skills. Tracey, John, Wendy and the team are fantastic. Friendly from the off and extremely professional. Basing the dives around the divers, their experience and what they want to see, trying to vary each dive so that u dont do the same dive more than once if it can be helped.(weather conditions permitting). They dive twice in the day every day. They have a collection and return service from the divers accomodation if required. There is equipment available also. Best to have a look at their web site for rates, which I can say are very reasonable. All I can say, is that you get what u pay for. They have an extremley good reputation on the forum. They are efficient, reliable, SAFE and fun. That to me is everything. Like I said I will be there during that time and can honestly say that they are the company that I shall be diving with, AGAIN. R & sea also keep their divers in touch with the goings on after u have left. A personal touch with Christmas greetings, Birthdays and regular news info, they never forget you and when you return home and get that e mail from them it really does make u want to go back. or even wish u hadn't left. Whichever company u decide to go with I hope u enjoy it as much as I do. Give them a look and mail them to see what they can offer. Wendy is very prompt with her replies.

frontier divers at sandy point beach club always get a =D> from me. pick ups , kit hire etc all available. i also did my referral course on tobago through barry at sublime.

ive not done any training with frontier so couldnt comment on that aspect of the operation but when i was there last year they had establised some links with higher education establishments and were training those students both to dive and in ecological matters.

have a great time, i will be out there at the same time albeit arriving a few days later than you so say hello if you do use frontier

regards
paul
