Just returned

I just returned from a wonderful first time trip to Tobago and I loved it! I spent a few days in Crown Point and a week in Charlotteville. I must say that I agree with some other posters on the site that Crown Point is a bit touristy for my taste and will not spend anytime there when I return other than to fly into the airport. Also, if you are a woman travelling alone, the local men are most annoying particularly at the beaches. A firm "no" doesn't seem to phase them. But, ah, Charlotteville--I fell in love with Pirate's Bay and the local people. I made some very good friends, and plan to return to Charlotteveille and visit Castara next year. David, you are so right: Miss Lyda does make some excellent roti! She also made dinner for me one evening. And, Gail's! I am going to miss her dinners and liming at the waterfront. Merry Christmas everyone, and have a happy New Year!

Hi Dianne, Just read your mail and would appreciate some info as to where you stayed. As a single female going there in April and possibly to live in September, I am interested in accomodation that caters for single people.
I've stayed in Castara a couple of times, but always with a friend. This will be my first visit on my own.
Look forward to hearing from you
Happy New Year

Hi, there. I stayed at Top River Pearl in Charlotteville and loved it. Check out Steve's review and you can then e-mail the owner, Ranier, for details. He is currently in Charlotteville and will be there until the middle/end of January. Great guy. If you stay in Crown Point, I would recommend the Toucan Inn. I did not stay there, but ate a few times at Bonkers (the restaurant there) and met some people staying there and viewed the cabanas, etc. I would definitely recommend it for a single woman travelling alone. I stayed at the Hummingbird down the road, and although it was fine, the new owners are not very friendly or helpful. In the future, I will just fly in and out of Crown Point--there is not much there and it is very touristy. I am looking forward to visiting Castara on my next trip. It's the only part of the island that I didn't see on this trip! Take care.
Thanks
