Hi Folks,

This is the mad woman who is planning to go and live and work in Tobago from September! Lots of hoops to jump through, but a challenge!
I'm going back in April to try and sort out basics, like where can I live on a Tobagon wage!
I want to hire a car and have had the pleasure of Sheppys car hire and would like to book with him again. Please can you tell me how to do that, as I didn't organise it last time and don't know how to contact him.
I tried 'googling' but didn't get anything that I recognised as his web site!

Is it me??

Thanks and any advice about anything will be appreciated.

Christine

Hi Christine (NbD) Pedder!
The information you require is on this site! 8)
Follow the link (up there /\ ) that says "Tobago" then "Getting about" then "Car rental" then "Car rental agencies" and you'll find his contact details. Or to make it easier go here: http://www.mytobago.info/carrental05.php
Good luck with your plans - I'll admit to some envy. :D
What kind of work are you going to be doing?

Hi Christine,

His website is: http://www.tobagocarrental.com I think, and as Julia said, follow the menu up top, Tobago>>Getting About>>Car Rental.

Thanks to both of you for replying, I'm a bit of a technophobe and struggle with finding my way around these sites!!
To answer your question, Julia, I have been offered a post at the acute psychiatric unit attached to the general hospital in Scarborough, it will be a bit of a challenge and the money is crap but, hey-ho, I'm up for a change!!
I'm not sure I can afford to live there if they keep charging me 'visitors' rates!!

Thanks again

Christine

How exciting! But yes, quite a challenge.
There's a number of posters here who've gone to live on Tobago from various parts of the globe. I'm sure they'll be able to offer some helpful advice about all sorts of things - maybe even avoiding 'visitors' rates!
Anyway - good luck and do let us know how you get on. :D

thats certainly going to be an experience - when i was working in adult psychiatry in the uk i took time on one visit to go and see the unit in scarborough, as a professional curiosity rather than with any kind of voyeuristic intent.

im out of that field now but fair play to you for getting out there and doing something worthwhile, that i regret not having the gumption to do at the time

regards
paul

Hi Christine,

you are not mad, you are lucky! As I wrote you i don't think you have to worry. The people on this site and the people in Tobago will give you guidance as much as you need.

Good Luck!!!

Cheers (hope to see you in April)
