Hi, everyone. My wife Sue and I have just returned from our 4th holiday in Tobago and we are sorry that it was only on this latest trip that we found out about Fabrizio and Tobago Now Tourism Services.
We had two wonderful tours with him, one on the Off Road Jeep Safari and the other on a Taste of Trinidad. The first thing that struck us about Fab was feeling immediately at ease with him and knowing straightaway that here was a knowledgeable and experienced tour guide with a great sense of humour who we could trust implicitly.
The safari trip is well worth doing and you get to see parts of Tobago that no other tour offers. All right, the ride is bumpy (it is off road, after all) but that just adds to the fun and if you have a driver like Dennis, as we did, it's a laugh a minute. He is a superb driver, but pretends not to be, and for a young man can talk knowledgeably about the island's politics as well as the flora and birds we saw en route. He even convinced Sue that the numerous Motmot birds we heard during the day were calling her by name! One other thing to mention, don't run away with the idea that you have to be fit and young to go on this trip. I am 70 this year and my wife is 10 years younger and although we did not swim at the waterfall (when you get to our age you can't be bothered), most of the rest of the party did and thoroughly enjoyed it. It really is an excellent day out for all ages, except perhaps for very young children.
The trip to Trinidad was brilliant. We were picked up from our hotel by Fab, taken to the airport and put on the 8.00 am flight, and on arrival
were met by Andrew, who has his own tour company on Trinidad (http://www.banwari.com) and who liaises with Fab on joint ventures such as this. Andrew also turned out to be an entertaining and knowledgeable tour guide and really helped make our day. Highlights included a visit to the Asa Wright Nature Centre - we could have stayed there all day watching the birds feeding - so many colours and varieties - and the Caroni swamp bird sanctuary. The latter was fascinating - a boat trip along the waterways of a huge mangrove swamp, spotting snakes curled up asleep in tree branches etc until we emerged on to a large lake in which there is one particular island where large flocks of scarlet ibis and white egrets roost. You can imagine the sight of these birds returning at dusk in large numbers - simply beautiful! Do take plenty of camera and camcorder space with you. We just had time to eat the fabulous Bake and Shark we had picked up earlier at Maracas Beach before we caught the 8.00 pm flight back. Of course, there was Fab waiting to check us in and ferry us back home.
To conclude, you would be daft not to to avail yourselves of the services of this tour guide when you visit Tobago. We do not recommend lightly, but he is the best.
