myTobago – your questions, review and comment about Tobago

Hi there everyone. I was hoping that someone could help me!

I'm heading out to the Rex Turtle Beach for 2 weeks at the end of July and reading reports has really whetted my appetite for fishing out there! At the moment i'm getting some kit together. At the moment I have a 6 piece travel spinning rod with 12lb line which i thought may prove fun for the smaller species? Is spinning a successful method? I've just bought myself a new beachcaster reel for a large line capacity and am thinking of pairing it with either a 3lb test curve carp rod or a beachcaster. What would you recommend?

I was thinking of taking a selection of lures and heavy spoons along with wire traces etc and probably 25lb line. Any other suggestions? I'm hoping not to hook up to any of these monster tarpon for my arms sake but am hoping for some good sport.

Has anyone fished this area from the beach and can you recommend any good spots? What can i expect in july/august? Is there anything else that i should be aware of? Sorry about all the questions i'm just excited to be returning to tobago and want to make sure my kit is up to par!

Ok i think all my questions have been answered now. I was wondering if anyone is going to be out in Tobago in the last week of july and 1st in august? If so it would be great to meet up and grab a carib or get some fishing in!
