Hi Steve, Having read various reports on your sight thought we would comment on our recent stay at Le Grand Courlan Spa inStonehaven.

The hotel wasextremely pleasant, especially the daily spa treatments - all of which seemed to be on offer - with no closed rooms. The Gym was well worth a visit although the treadmill machines were out of order for al of our two week stay. As stated by others who have visited the hotel - the staff were magnificent ! and nothing was too much for them. The meals were mostly ok - but the Caribbean Bistro was out of this world.

We visited La Tataruga Italian restaurant , which although rather expensive - 900TT$ for our meal which only included one G&T, a glass of chianti and a bottle of water on top of the standard, but excellent meal. There is only a set menu available, however, if you visit more than once they recommend that you advise them when booking and they will make sure that the anti pasta you get is different each time.

The Seahorse and Shirvan Watermill are also worth a visit - and a bit more reasonable in price!

We used Frankie's Tours to visit various parts of the island including a snorkling and boat trip to Englishmans Bay and Pigeon Point. The sea trip was spectacular and the dolphins came right up to the boat to be fed. The only downside to the beach was the black sand - we found this a tad off putting - it was fairly quiet and as seems to be the case on all of the island relatively safe and secure. We found out walking that the locals were very pleased to speak to the tourists amd top give them advise as to what to do.

On one of the tour operators brochures it states "If Heaven Is Full Please Send Me Back to Tobago! We certainly agree with this comment and hope to return to the island in the not too distant future. We even looked at the possibility of buying property there! Fingers crossed.

As to the Dengue fever alert - we did see notices about it everywhere, and were advised to always use insect repellent. The hotel offered to spray our rooms any time we asked and the local authority in Scarborough were certainly spraying at various intervals throughout the week when we were there. As when travelling to any country - take care with what you drink and where you visit - listen to the locals and all should be fine!

Anyone planning to visit the island or the hotel for the first time Enjoy it as much as we did. Thanks for your informative sight Steve - it was very useful.

Regards
Liz and Nick
