Hello All,
On the 22nd of June my boyfriend and I are headed to Tobago! and I must say, I havent stopped smiling since I got the surprise!! SO excited.

Ive been snooping around My Tobago and I have found out all the things I had questions about...so much information! ( has kept me very busy at work for the last week) :D

My boyfriend's family is from Trinidad and have visited Tobago forever. He considers himself kind of like a local to Store Bay. (as a family hotel is located there) However, this being my first time to Tobago, I want to do all of the tourist type things. Any suggestions that will be exciting for both new and old visitors? One more thing, I have looked through the responses regarding money matters, and I still cant decide what is the best bet for me? I am told that my Canadian bank card will most likely not work, Im not keen on travellers cheques and Ive been advised not to carry a larger quantity of cash on me....so, what shall I do?

thanks very much for any suggestions!!!
ONE week to go!
Cheers,
Lesley

Hi Lesley,,
lucky you! Only one week to go! My German bank card is working at the "Blue Machines" in Tobago. Any credit card will do. Ask you bank if you can use you bank card because this is the easyest way and you dont have to take any money with you!
Travellers cheques you can normally only change at the bank but only in Scarborough or at the airport. That means a lot of wasted time by travelling and waiting in the bank.

As there is a bank and severel money machines at the airport you don't have to change money home because they will give you a bad rate.

Good luck with your bank and enjoy your stay!

(and don't forget to go to Sunday School)

Cheers

Hi Lesley,if your card is Visa or Mastercard and can work in a Lynx(Links) machine you will have no problems.I should take maybe $TT 1000 with you but draw all other spending from the macine or use it for purchase.(you will get abetter rate).
Enjoy,I am jealous as I have nearly 24 weeks to go ,
Cheers David :D :D

Leslie, you can at Crown point airport if the bank is open,I beleive you would be better off taking a minimum of TT$1000 and getting the rest from a machine,it also saves having to carry cashUnless you are using Traveller's Cheques.
Enjoy,David :D

We were able to use our bank cards in both Trinidad & Tobago. We mostly used our Visa but getting cash from the machines was no problem at all.

As far as touristy things to do......my favourite is to tour the island stopping at the beaches. We usually spend several days out and about touring. There is so much to see! So many amazing beaches! A glass bottom boat trip could be fun for you as well....or a day on one of the cats.

Enjoy your trip!
