Great site this!
I will go to Trinidad and Tobago for x-mas and will only spend 3-4 days in Tobago, the rest of my time I will spend in Trinidad (about 3 weeks) and are now wondering if anyone could give me any pointers and tips where there is good fishing there. I have been searched the internet but have not found any good info at all... I am staying close to Arima and have car. I will bring my own spinning gear.
I would be very grateful for any help.

Hello Mike

Welcome aboard!

I'm afraid that this site is strictly limited to information and discussion of Tobago.

Hi Mike

I know nothing of the fishing opportunities on Trinidad, but contributors B Jack and Collins K both live there.

see this thread http://www.mytobago.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3683
and you might be able to PM either of these for information on the area where you are staying.

Personally - I'd stay on Tobago 8)

Good luck
Steve

Is there any flats/reefs in Tobago that you could get to without the need of boat?

Hi Mike

There is a section on fishing on and around Tobago here -
http://www.mytobago.info/fishing.php

There are also loads of threads in this section of the forum - check out the Tarpon and Jacks thread, or any others with fishy sounding titles.
Some go back a couple of years or more, so happy hunting.

I would say that this site contains more practical info on fishing Tobago - bar none!
Much of the tactics, species and tackle will equally apply to Trinidad.

All flats fishing is done around the lower Caribbean end of the Island, from Buccoo around to Lambeau.

Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve P,

After some surfing on this site, I have understood that you have done some fishing around Tobago! We have looked at the site recommended by you, and we have found some useful information. We will absolutely try fishing when we arrive in Febrary!

Hi Eric

I have been known to fish 'a little' around Tobago.

It's a wonderful place, with a wide variety of species and most are are of specimen size.

If you are staying around the Crown Point area - this is a good place to start, especially if you want tarpon, jacks and snook.

Have fun and please let us know how successful you are.

steve, I was watching your mullet video last week (1 of 10 for 12.99, it's a shame they were mostly des taylor and not your caribean fishing trips),

is there much point going after the mullet out there?

only 10 sleeps to go!!!

Hi Phil

I've never caught a mullet on Tobago -
I lie. I have caught the freshwater ones from the streams on bread flake.

At the risk of being hung, drawn and quartered for publicising a commercial product that I am associated with..... If you want a copy of our Fishing in the Carribean film and CD-Rom, PM me and I'll let you know where you can get one.

I have just returned from a bit of fishing/filming in the Seychelles - Awsome!

Cheers and tight lines

Steve

Hi Phil

Steve has forgotten that I disabled the PM facility due to abuse of the system. He hasn't got his profile set to share his email, so send your email to me and I'll forward it on to Steve.
