This was an outstanding holiday. The beauty of the island and friendliness of the people were very special. We swam and snorkled, visited the rain forest, walked, enjoyed the local restaurants. What we particularly liked was that it was not commercial.
I can't say enough about Glouster House and our hosts, Win and Bea Sargent. The house itself is lovely, brand new, clean, well designed with 3 out of 4 bedrooms facing the sea. The art the Sargents have collected in their many years overseas is astonishing ---lots of big wood animal carvings that often serve functionally as seats or tables as well as a feast for the eyes. "Pedro" ---the larger than lifesize carved parrot---keeps watch over the sea from his position on the large patio. The paintings, fabric were exotic and appropriate to house.
It was fun to have a swimming pool as well for quick dips when we didn't feel like going down to the beach.
Most especially we enjoyed our hosts. Win and Bea were gracious, helpful, very bright people with great senses of humor. We loved being around them.
