We stayed at Merles House for two weeks in October and were very pleased. We were met at the airport by the owner Irvine Marcelle, who introduced us to Angela the lovely housekeeper. Although we had originally booked a small studio apartment on the ground floor, Marcelle offered us a larger apartment on the first floor at a reduced rate which we took.
The apartment had a large balcony area with a table and chairs looking out over the large garden and mature trees, we picked the largest avocado's I have ever seen in the garden and watched a variety of birds and lizards in the branches of the fruit trees. The apartment itself had two floors, the lower floor had an open plan lounge / kitchen area, and bathroom with shower. The kitchen was equipped with a toaster, microwave, kettle, gas hotplate and fridge/freezer. There was no oven (though some of the apartments do have a full oven) but we did not feel the need for a full oven and managed to cook well with the facilities available. The bedroom was beautifully decorated with two comfortable double beds and windows on three sides. There is air conditioning throughout and cable tv via a portable which can be plugged in the lounge or bedroom area.
Angela the housekeeper was always on hand to answer any queries you may have, she will show you how to use the washing machine which is available and offer to wash clothes for you. There is a payphone situated at the front of the property, off street parking and car hire available.
The property is located just off the Milford Road, less than five minutes walk to PennySavers Supermarket, we also strolled to Pigeon Point which takes 20/30 mins, a taxi back cost $20/30tt. We were also ideally situated for various restaurants and bars.
There is no pool at present, but Ivrine is planning to build one over the New Year ready for carnival season in February, also considering an outdoor barbecue area at our suggestion.
we enjoyed our stay so much that we have already booked to return with our two young daughters.
