Hi Mike,
Spiritual Baptistes are going to be a happening event , if you like hearing drums, tamborine, and bass, plus hand clapping and of course, 100 or more lusty, rollicking voices singing praises, and gospel, and R & B music.
We experienced a sunday event in the small town of L'Anse Fourmi that really suprised and moved me.
The congregation's fervor and depth of feeling was quite astounding. And I'm speaking from the point of view of someone who goes to Quaker meeting once in a while, only. I am not a practising Christian but I do love good music.
So, where ever you are, check out the local Spirtual Baptiste's.
The goat and crab events, of course, will all be happenig at Bucoo, around about Sunday School, so that's probably a fun event. My mistake in going to the Sunday evening party, was to eat first, befor going. So I was too full to enjoy all the stands of great eats available. Go at 8:00 in the evening with an empty stomache, and stick around for the steel drums in the evening, and of course, the dancing later in the night. (However, I don't know what time of the day the races are held, but you'll find that out easily enough when you're on the island.)
Wish I was going to be there!
Frank
