Hello all. Im afriad i have a bit of a girly question, so please forgive me!

I was wondering if anyone has stayed at the Coco Reef recently, and can advise me on what the dress code is there, especially what foot wear is advisable. Ive read that the Coco is a smart casual hotel, so would appreciate any info anyone can give.

Also, while i think of it, can anyone advise me on what clothes/footwear to take for the rainforest, as i don't want to be taking anything unnecessary - like to travel light! :)

Many thanks

Jo

Hi Jo,

I stayed/got married at Coco Reef in November 2005...... the dress code is nothing to worry about. Just so long as you're not parading around in a bikini in the restaurant etc then they're pretty leniant.
My footwear consisted of a total of 2 pairs of sandals the whole holiday. A pair of flip flops which I wore in the hotel - to the restaurants and on the beach and a slightly sturdier pair of sandals for walking to Pigeon Point, round Scarborough etc.
To the rainforest, again, I wore sandals but once there our tour guide provided wellies which are the best thing as it was quite muddy in places and splashed up a little. I wore 3/4 length jeans with a strappy top which I felt was just right. I stayed cool on the top and my legs were protected from any midges! Another lady there wore a strappy top with long shorts which I guess is another option.

Hope this helps
Lucy

Jolene, the ideal footwear to pack would depend on the time of year that you will be coming to Tobago. Our wet season is in the latter half of the year, so the trails will tend to be wetter and muddier, and the wellies come in handy then. If you will be here before June, you might not need them, in which case sneakers or trainers would probably be all you need.

Thanks for all the great info everyone :)

We will be going in June, which is one of the reasons why i wasnt sure what footwear we would need for the rainforest, but from what you say, wellies sound good! :P

In regard to the Coco, thanks for the info Lucy, thats good news about the flip flops! :) I wasn't sure whether things like that would cause a problem, as ive heard and read alot of different things over the last few months, but if i can wear me flip flops i'll be happy! :)
