Hi,
I am new to Tobago and forums so please be patient with me, I cant believe I am nearly 35 and my kids know more than me about this sort of thing
Firstly WHAT A WEBSITE you can not believe how much this has helped us after we booked to go in August - Thank You
We will be in Tobago for the Boat Race this year and wondered if anyone has got any general info on this?
Would also like to know if most restaurants and bars are child friendly as we have two aged 10 and 8, and although they may be too young for rum we are looking forward to trying

Hi Michelle
Welcome aboard!
Can't tell you much about the Great Boat Race I'm afraid - but I believe all the action takes place at Store Bay.
As regards the restaurants, I'm sure you will find everywhere perfectly child-friendly.
Have fun!

Hi Michelle
Your children may be alittle young for rum, but will love the smoothies available at Pigeon Point and I am sure other places too, perhaps someone can remember the name of them? Also with kids in tow you have the perfect excuse for lots of home-made icecream from Ciao Cafe in Scarborough, I am sure you will have a great time, my two were the same age as yours the first time we took them and absolutely loved it.
See an account of Tobago from their point of view in General Question and comment > Tobago: experiences of a fifteen yearold.
Have a great time
Linda

Hi Michelle
You can use a search engine such as Google, yahoo or one provided by your internet sevice provider to find out about anything in the whole world - it's all on the internet. If you get stuck - just ask the kids.
I just typed 'Tobago power boat race' into a search engine and came up with several links to various websites including this one
http://www.ttpba.com/ belonging to the Trinidad and Tobago Powerboat Association. Info on the Great Carib Race (August 07) is sure to be on there.
Are you just spectating or hoping to hitch a ride?
Cheers
Steve

Hi thanks everyone,
Steve,
I have a feeling once there we won't want to hitch a ride anywhere else and will possibly not want to come home, I am now worried 2 weeks is nowhere near long enough.
Linda, those smoothies sound great and as for the ice cream !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks again.

You and the kids will have a fab time at the boat race. I was there for it last year. AND hopefully, If I get the right priced flights will be there again.
It all kicks off quite early in the morning(for holiday goers anyway). Most people go onto Store Bay beach to watch the boats come in. As I was with a dive company I got on the dive boat and came into the bay. Although there wasn't much trouble on the beach last year, I would definitely recommend getting on one of the glass bottom boats as they go out there too. You get a good close up view of them all coming into finish. You can get these in Store bay or from Pigeon point next to R & Sea Divers. If you go to Pigeon Point ask to speak to Lap or Kasim the day before. They will def be able to help you. Make sure you take your camera I had some fantastic photos from that day.
If you decide to stay on the beach, they have activities going on, but it does get very very busy and the glass bottom boats can take you inot shore.
Leave it with you. Or better still see you out there.
