We(2 adults and 3 teenage boys)stayed at CCR for 6 nights on breakfast only.Initial impressions of hotel were very good - lovely grounds and an incredibly beautiful setting. We had to wait over half an hour to be shown to our rooms which was tiring after such a long flight. Our rooms were very good - interconnecting, first floor just as we had requested. No tea/coffee making facilities in room but we requested this and it did eventually turn up 8 hours later after reminding reception! Shower was not too powerful but we coped. Tennis courts, beach and pool were great and loved by the boys - NOT crowded at all July/Aug. The pedaloes, kayaks etc.. are put to bed at 4pm so get down there early! Breakfasts were great - plenty of choice. Bacchanals was good - drinks and meals served overlooking the sea by friendly staff. Tried one evening meal in Tamaras. HIGHLY PRICED ordinary food but good service (we were asked if everything was ok before we had even been served!)One of our 14 yr old sons was initially denied entry as he was wearing flip flops (otherwise smartly dressed) so be warned...the dress code appears to apply to children too! Bit odd as Tamaras is used for breakfast and you can wander down in your PJs in the morning and no one would challenge you! One slight inconvenience was the safety deposit boxes are not in the bedrooms but next to reception so you have to be very organised before going out for the day.Overall, a very good experience but we would agree with some of the others that it is does not measure up to a 4* rating. We found most of the staff to be very friendly and helpful with a few showing indifference.
By the way, if you have enough money to rent Sunset Villa, be aware that the dozen or so tour/glass bottom boats at Store Bay pull up right by the villa with their respective speakers playing reggae/rap on full volume! Not so good for a romantic honeymoon.
We would recommend Iguana for good food and friendly service(turn right out of hotel entrance, walk approx 200 meters to cross roads)or for lunch/early tea Backyard Cafe (turn left, approx 100 meters on the left.)Laundrette/internet cafe next door to hotel and bank (left out of entrance.) Hope this helps any of you who are thinking of booking CCR.
