myTobago – your questions, review and comment about Tobago

I visited Tobago in 1994 and loved it so much i vowed to return one day. I have booked two weeks at the Coco Reef hotel from the second week of November and i can't wait. Previously i stayed at the Turtle Beach hotel and we took a glass bottom boat excursion from the hotel out to the nylon pool,then we landed on No Mans Land and enjoyed the most fabulous Rum punch bbq complete with Limbo dancing. It was truly magical and was organised by a local chap that we met on the Turle beach. There were only about 4 other people on the trip and the operator made us feel like he had invited us as personal friends. I have looked on MY TOBAGO and can;t find this trip anywhere. Can anyone advise me of a reputable operator who offers this bbq/snorkelling trip, i am loathe to organise a trip with a rep and be herded about with 20 or so others and so would be grateful for a name so that i might source the trip independantly

I stand to be corrected on this one, but don't think that glass-bottom boat trips run from Rex Turtle Beach hotel. I'm assuming that you got on the boat at RTB rather than booked there and travelled by road to catch the boat?

The main departure points are now Pigeon Point pier and Store Bay.
Some boats are moored at Buccoo, but mostly ply the other two beaches for custom.

Both of these are very close to Coco reef, so make ideal embarkation and drop-off points for you.

13 years on and you'll find it busier for sure.
No-mans land is visited regularily and is sadly no longer the 'castaway' destination it once was.

Could I suggest, that if you want to miss the crowds, then catch the first boat of the day, or try an alternative such as Cocomotion, Island Girl, or a coastal tour from King David or Alibaba. These will be smaller groups, with the emphasis on making sure you have a good time, snorkelling, liming and they will find you a deserted spot for lunch.

Thanks for that, you may be right it seems such a long time ago, we may have boarded the glass bottom boat from elsewhere but a local lad collected us in his fishing boat to begin with!. I suppose it was a selfish thought that Tobago would stay hidden away for ever ; ) Thank you I will certainly investigate your other suggestions. Polly

We went three years ago on the 'Rum Punch Beach Party' with Frankies Tours. Like you we enjoyed it so much it, we returned to Tobago for a second and third time (and hope to go again). We have also done the Cocomotion trip, which is excellent.

We have not done the Rum Punch Beach party again as we decided that it was SO special to us, that it could never be repeated, so the last two years we did different trips, all good, but nothing will ever beat that.

if you went with the glass bottom boat from turtle beach I guess it was A-team tours, keith is the master of limbo... and a great and funny guy (very muscular, that should ring a bell...)
